HERE WE HAVE AN EXCELLENT, UK VERTIGO (VO 1) VERY FIRST PRESSING (November 1969) OF COLOSSEUM'S TREMENDOUS SECOND LP, "Valentyne Suite" - THEIR FIRST ON VERTIGO AND THE VERY FIRST RELEASE ON THE LABEL

PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WHICH DELIVERS A TREMENDOUS POWERFUL SOUND WITH AN IMPRESSIVE LOUD CUT
THE RECORD HAS THE VERY FIRST VERTIGO LABELS WITH A SWIRL TAKING UP THE WHOLE OF SIDE A AND A LARGE SWIRL ABOVE, AND "VERTIGO" BELOW THE CENTRE HOLE ON SIDE B - AS THE EARLIEST UK PRESSING THE TEXT "A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT" IS PRINTED ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LABEL - this was removed within a matter of months and only the first 5 Vertigo releases ever carried it - releases VO1 to VO6 (there was no VO5 issued)

AND IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL MATTE GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH INTERNALLY PRINTED LYRICS - THIS FIRST ISSUE SLEEVE CARRIES THE INTERNAL TEXT "COPYRIGHT SUBSISTS ON ALL VERTIGO RECORDINGS...." (which was later changed to "...ALL STEREO RECORDINGS...")

SUPERB PLAYING COPY OF THE VERY RARE VERY FIRST PRESSING - SOUNDS SENSATIONAL - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing and only a handful of light spindles. NOT OVERPLAYED AT ALL
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its DEEP, almost AS-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN. There is one superficial light mark on Side Two (otherwise, the surfaces are UNMARKED) but this has NO audio consequence (see detailed assessment below)
VINYL Audio: BEAUTIFUL, DEEP, RICH SOUND - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY SHARP and VERY STRONG. TREMENDOUS LP. There are NO jumps, NO sticks, NO scratches and barely any clicks/pops (really, hardly any). The LP plays BEAUTIFULLY THROUGHOUT to a very high standard with GREAT CLARITY, NO distortion and NO groove-wear. Must be graded EXCELLENT to (+) for audio. TREMENDOUS PIECE OF WORK and NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page).
SLEEVE: The gatefold sleeve is in VERY GOOD+ condition with storage wear to both the edges and the spine but it is CLEAN with NO marks/unwanted writing and the construction is still GOOD and SOLID. Very nice example of this easily worn sleeve - and it is the original very first issue - now 40 years old
THE ORIGINAL VERTIGO SWIRL BAG IS IN GREAT SHAPE WITH NO SPLITS
