UK COLOSSEUM LP VALENTYNE SUITE Record VERTIGO Swirl

Up for auction is an original 1969 UK pressing (Vertigo VO 1) of Colosseum's classic album entitled Valentyne Suite. This is a very rare first pressing with "A Philips Record Product" printed on both the label and inside of the unlaminated, gatefold cover. Later pressings do not state the Philips jargon on the label or inside of the gatefold cover. The label is the original Vertigo swirl.

Valentyne Suite was the first LP ever released on the Vertigo label. From the Keef designed cover to the wonderful music, it is also one of the very best. Valentyne Suite is a progressive rock classic, and it belongs in every progressive rock fan's music library. According to Vertigo expert Barry "Mr. Vertigo" Winton, Valentyne Suite is a 5 star album which established Colosseum as one of the leading exponents in the jazz-rock field. As Mr. Winton stated in a recent article published in 'Record Collector' magazine, "The world's most famous prog label got off to an explosive start with Valentyne Suite, considered by many to be one of the finest LPs ever recorded on this legendary label." Sadly, there are not very many bands around these days that can rock out as hard and heavy as Colosseum while at the same time employ the use of such expert musical chops. My hope is that this album will eventually fall into the hands of a music fan who may one day be inspired to create such innovative music as can be heard on both sides of the wax which produce the sounds of the incredible Valentyne Suite.

On a grading scale of M-, EX, VG+, VG, G, and P the condition of this album is as follows:

Disc = EX (vinyl is very very close to M-).

Cover = EX (light crease on front cover).
