Description

PLEASE NOTE OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS I WILL BE LISTING NUMEROUS CLASSICAL RECORDS THAT CAME FROM A FROM A PUBLIC AND REFERENCE LIBRARY, THEY HAVE BEEN STORED FOR MANY YEARS UNPLAYED, HOWEVER IN MOST CASES THEY WILL HAVE VARIOUS INSTITUTIONAL MARKS HANDWRITTEN REFERENCE NUMBERS STAMPS ETC. THERE ARE NUMEROUS SCARCE COLUMBIA, DECCA AND HMV EXAMPLES. PLEASE BARE IN MIND THAT THESE HAVE COME FROM A LIBRARY SO THE CONDITION WILL NOT BE FANTASTIC, ALTHOUGH SOME EXAMPLES ARE QUITE PLEASING. THESE AUCTIONS WILL HOPEFULLY GIVE PEOPLE THE OPPURTUNITY TO OBTAIN VERY SCARCE CLASSICAL RECORDS AT AFFORDABLE COMPETATIVE PRICES. THERE ARE SOME EXCELLENT EXAMPLES AND I AM SURE SOME WILL EXCEDE YOUR OWN EXPECTATIONS. WITH THIS IN MIND, PLEASE BE AWARE OF THEIR EX LIBRARY STATUS WHEN BIDDING AS THESE RECORDS WILL NOT REALLY BE FOR THE COLLECTOR LOOKING FOR IMMACULATE EXAMPLES.

This auction is for the following record LP
JANOS STARKER CELLO CONCERTO
DVORAK, FAURE CELLO & ORCHESTRA

STEREO

Label-COLUMBIA

Catalogue- SAX 2263

 1st pressing, blue/silver label

Record-EX (Excellent)
A solid example that has been reasonably well preserved. The record has retained some of its original shine but is a touch dull. On initial inspection it looks quite good but you can notice that there are some light surface marks and light hairlines intermeitently on both sides but nothing that looks too heavy or overly distracting, there is a couple of small marks that can be just lightly felt but generally a nice example that visually comes in at an EXCELLENT grading. Reference number written in pen on side 1 label.
Due to this record being stored and largely unused for many years I would recommend a professional clean to enhance this example further.

I have listened to large extracts of the audio and for the most part the record played through fine. There is some lightly noticeable background crackle static type noise noticed intermitently througohut, mainly noticed in quieter passages and barely noticed it at all during more of the orchestral passages. There are a couple of areas that create some moderate to loud ticks, at the start of the first mvmt there is a series of 15 loud ticks, and at the near beginnig of the 2nd mvmt there is a preiod of various ticks some quite loud and some more moderate for approx 2 minutes. Other than these two areas the rest of the record played pleasantly with some light crackle and occasional pops and ticks. I think a audio grading somewhere between VG++ and EX- should cover it.

Sleeve VG- (Very Good MINUS)
PLEASE VIEW THE EXTENSIVE PHOTO GALLERY FOR A DETAILED VISUAL OF THE CONDITION

There is some handling marks to the front and back with some mild grazing and minor laminate loss, there is an area of loss to the front opening edge. There is some light edge and corner wear with a small area of splitting to the top edge (7.5cm), with a couple of small closed tears on the edges. The reverse is quite clean and well presented with some light minor corner creasing just showing, some light wear to the flip backs otherwise nicely presented.

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH YOUR ITEM PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME. I HAVE AN IMPECCABLE TRACK RECORD FOR POSITIVE FEEDBACK WITH LP'S, SO PLEASE BUY WITH CONFIDENCE.
