Description
- Fantasy Records released an outstanding live recording of Creedence Clearwater Revival as "The Royal Albert Hall Concert" in London in October 1980. It was supposed to be from an April 1970 show but Fantasy made a blunder of near historic proportions when it mixed up the master tapes and instead released this mislabeled recording of the band's January 31, 1970 show at Oakland Coliseum. The error was discovered a few months after the release and subsequent copies were retitled as just "The Concert."
- This rare copy (MPF-4501) is from the original first pressing of the erroneously titled album and is in excellent condition. The cover has some minor edge wear but is easily VG+. Please see the pictures but note the photo of the Fantasy "We Goofed" sticker is from a later copy. The disc test plays cleanly and is also VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley and was pressed at the Columbia Records plant in Santa Maria, Calif. The dead wax on Side 1 is etched MPF B?E?F 4501 A 1A S1.
- In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.
- Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
- This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 41 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
