Description
Disguised as the Golden Gate Orchestra, the California Ramblers Orchestra play "Clementine" on Edison Diamond Disc 52109. There are many fine solos.
Frank Cush, Nick Casti (tp) Frank Ferretti (tb) Pete Pumiglio (cl,as) Larry Lloyd (as) Sam Ruby (ts) Spencer Clark (bassax) Jack Russin (p) Tommy Felline (bj) Herb Weil (d) Ed Kirkeby (dir, vcl). Recorded in New York on September 27, 1927.
On the flip side, Ernie Golden and His Hotel McAlpin Orchestra play a peppy version of "The Varsity Drag." Recorded in New York on September 26, 1927.
This record is in E condition generally on the Ramblers side, and E- condition generally on the Ernie Golden side. Each side has one small edge chip not to the grooves. A couple of superficial scratches at the beginning of the "Clementine" side (visible in the second photo at about 4:00) sound unobtrusively at first, and then disappear. Please note that this record is vertically recorded and therefore requires special playback equipment.
I'm a longtime collector who is downsizing. I know how to pack records.
