High shine - no graying - to extremely clean shellac playing surfaces. No nicks, cracks or feelable marks anywhere  -Edges are pristine with no grime or chips. Tight, perfectly round center hole. Few very light inaudible surface scuffs only - mostly cosmetic, only 1 or 2 that could actually be considered a superficial scratch. Labels are super-clean both sides with faint spindle trails on CHIMES BLUES label, seen at angle to light. Sound quality is very clean and clear.

NOTE that this is a professional studio '4-hole' shellac acetate (center hole, plus the 3 surrounding stabilizer peg holes).
There were any number of homemade acetates cut on this Audiodisc label in the 1930's through 60's, but those DIY acetates always had only the one extra hole (total '2-hole' acetates) and were made on lower-grade 'home' or 'booth' machines.
The 4-hole acetates were made on much more professional, actual studio-grade, cutting machines, usually as a step in transfer to a commercial recording or as a test recording for review preceding possible further recording, mixing or mastering.

The labels are handwritten in ink ...in handwriting remarkably like Cow Cow's hand. May(?) be actually his writing - also same style of penmanship on label affixed to outer sleeve ("30 E").

The acetate is shellac over fiber (not metal) inner core.
There are nothing etched or stamped in trail-off wax.
Housed in thick tan, blank 78rpm sleeve as pictured.
Kept inside of a 10" clear, protective outer sleeve.

Here is what I do and don't know about the provenance of this disc:
Played through once by me to check quality of sound, condition and track version. It seems to be exactly - or very close - to the GENNETT / CHAMPION  50033 recordings made and issued in 1929 bearing CHIMES BLUES on its A side and ATLANTA RAG on its B side. (later issues of "Chimes Blues" on Paramount and Broadway were a later, different recording, paired with "Slow Drag", instead of the original B side "Atlanta Rag" as we have here). I acquired this record from the Austin Wells Estate with a number of other blues, R&B and jazz records in the same collection. Austin Wells was a West Coast Jazz and R&B pianist who recorded sporadically alongside Walter Bishop, Dewey Redman, Norman Williams, Horace Parlan and others throughout the early 1950's - 70's, mostly out of San Francisco. By the time of his death (August, 2015) his record collection was primarily down to his most prized records; those he had played on, records by friends and fellow musicians he had performed and/or recorded with, and records by the few piano players he had known and especially admired - many of these were autographed. This was the only acetate I found in the collection.

I do not know for sure when this acetate was cut. It has a very clean recording quality - at a level extremely close to the Gennett-Champion 78 issue that bears these songs. The sound quality of the grooves is very clear and fresh - obviously played only a very few times in all the years.

Acetates are not meant to be played regularly, like a normal record. Multiple plays will degrade the grooves. Hopefully, you will buy this as a historic piece, play it once to record and then put it away in your collection. If you are looking for a play copy, this acetate will sound GREAT now, but will diminish in quality with repeated plays. I would prefer to sell it to someone who is well aware of all of this and is a solid fan of Cow Cow Davenport - looking to acquire a one-of-a-kind piece for their collection.
