Description
The Clutch The Obelisk Box Set, released on October 24, 2020, for Record Store Day, is a limited-edition (2,000 copies worldwide) 18-LP vinyl collection from Weathermaker Music, showcasing the Maryland rockers’ complete vinyl releases under their label.
Housed in a premium rigid box with a magnetic closure and silver foil stamped on black Sierra cloth, it’s designed for dedicated fans.
The set includes six double LPs, three single LPs, and three 12-inch picture discs, along with a Clutch-branded turntable slipmat and a square, artist-signed lithograph.
Contents:
• Double LPs: Full Fathom Five (2008, live), Strange Cousins From The West (2009), Blast Tyrant (2004), Robot Hive/Exodus (2005), From Beale Street To Oblivion (2007), Book Of Bad Decisions (2018).
• Single LPs: Earth Rocker (2013), Psychic Warfare (2015), La Curandera (2015, compilation).
• Picture Discs: Live At The Googolplex (2002, live), Jam Room (1999), Pitchfork & Lost Needles (2005, compilation).
The set compiles Clutch’s Weathermaker Music catalog, spanning studio albums, live recordings, and rarities, pressed on heavyweight black vinyl (except for the picture discs). Highlights include the raw energy of Live At The Googolplex and fan-favorite albums like Blast Tyrant and Earth Rocker.
The picture discs, pressed by GZ Media, offer better quality than standard pressings but retain typical picture disc limitations.
It’s a collector’s item praised for its lavish packaging. Vocalist Neil Fallon emphasized the significance of Weathermaker Music’s launch in 2008, calling The Obelisk a testament to the band’s independence. It’s a must-have for vinyl enthusiasts despite its steep cost.
