Description
Purchased brand new by me in 1969 this first pressing of Colosseum’s Valentyne Suite includes the original gatefold cover, swirl inner sleeve and swirl label for side A. Musicians include Dave Greenslade on keyboards and vibes, James Litherland on guitar and vocals, Dick Heckstall-Smith on saxophones and flute, Tony Reeves on bass and Jon Hiseman on drums. Dave Greenslade in particular still sounds great on the Hammond organ, particularly on side B.
The LP has been cleaned, played and checked for sound quality on a Pro-Ject turntable with an ADC cartridge. Both sides are visually mint while the sound quality is pretty good throughout. No audible defects were heard on either side. Interesting to note however that tracks A2, 3 and 4 were cut at a slightly lower volume level than the rest.

The original inner sleeve with poly liner is in good condition with just a few creases and some dis-colouration towards the edges. The two outer faces of the gatefold cover are in good condition overall with some dis-colouration towards the outer edges and some signs of light wear a little in from the bottom edges. The two inner faces of the gatefold cover are in very good condition. The top and bottom edges of the gatefold cover show signs of wear while the spine has lost some of it’s original colouration.
The LP will be shipped via Royal Mail’s Second Class Signed For service with an extra stiffener in a cardboard LP mailing carton. UK buyers only and no Buy It Now price will be agreed.
