Columbia SAX 2282 blue/silver – FOURNIER: SCHUMANN CELLO CONCERTO etc.
Columbia stereo recording on blue/silver label catalogue number SAX 2282. Pierre Fournier (cello) playing Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor and Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme with Sir Malcolm Sargent conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Disc is clean and shiny with occasional very faint marks and one noticeable mark on side 2. We have listened very critically: Side 1 has about 15 very faint ticks and 5 noticeable ones; Side 2 has about 12 very faint ticks, 12 noticeable ticks and 4 loud ones. Professional cleaning might help. Not a perfect copy but still highly enjoyable. Laminated sleeve is very scruffy with serious scuffing at corners/edges and 3cm split at bottom and splits at opening edges.
