Description
Converge No Heroes - 1st Pressing, 1996 TEST PRESS - Center Label A-Side has handwritten No. 10 of 15
Greetings. Many thanks for taking time out of your day to view my listing. If you are reading this, you know the gravity behind this superb album. I'm not a huge fan of Pitchfork, but they gave this album an 8.1 back in 2006 - Sixth full-length is packed with some of the most ferocious moments in the Boston quartet's 15-plus-year history
The review begins with, "If LCD Soundsystem's 45:33 is good Nike-sponsored running music, No Heroes is what boot-wearing non-joggers use at a punk-slapped punching bag to reach fighting weight. It's pretty amazing to think Converge has been around almost as long as some of you have been alive, especially considering this sixth full-length is packed with some of the most ferocious moments in the Boston quartet's 15-plus year history.
These 14 right hooks are buff motherfuckers, rendered in various shades of blacks and blues and reds, but it's the opening tandem that really cooks. Shoving feedback and a heavy instrumental build out of the way, neck-tat sporting vocalist Jacob Bannon skewers a two-minute sermon on the opening track, "Heartache": "We are all falling down/ We are all falling/ Every word that you pray/ Makes another slave/ Every idol that you build/ Brings another plague." When the mathy mid-tempo returns, the song appropriately rams bass-first into "Hellhound", a one-minute rip-roar of in-the-red calisthenics. And then, well, it's gone, replaced by the equally taut "Sacrifice": "Hit the lights/ I've had enough/ Guilt to build a city/ Shame to fill a sea/ Reasons to give up and lose everything/ Regret to burn this body/ Filth to cut these hands/ Reasons to bury this and everything we have." Vengeance? It's only 58 seconds long. Its motto: "I'm built for war."
I am absolutely loathe to part with this album. But life sucks sometimes, and one has to do what one has to do. This item has been faithfully stored in a custom-cut archival polyester (Mylar) envelope style jacket provided by www.conservationresources.com or CR for short. Please note, with regard to the photos, I took the album out of the Mylar envelope and have it placed in a polyester resealable outer-jacket. However, it is now back in the polyester jacket. The album lays atop a custom-cut MicroChamber board for pro-active archival storage - MicroChamber also provided by CR. MicroChamber board is acid-free, lignin-free with a calcium buffered clay zeolite matrix. I hold certain vinyl sacrosanct, and I do my best to maintain them for posterity. Albums such as this have touch my life - so you bet yer ass I am going to give it the respect that it warrants.I learned of CR when researching archival thresholds / standards as prescribed by the Library of Congress (LOC). The LOC listed CR, in addition to a host of other companies, as a supplier of archival products. I highly suggest checking out CR if any vinyl nut such as myself wishes to preserve music their as best as possible - especially music that has touched your life and will be with you for the long haul.
I am the only owner. I purchased this on eBay back in 2007 from DW (Tre) directly. As I stated this album is rather special to me. BTW, if you use BIN, I will throw in for free 2 other versions of No Heroes. Check my discogs page, my user name is 1dumdum

The sleeve is die cut on one side, which forms an open circle around the A-Side Center Label. The A-side center label is stamped with, "test pressing," and, "dw __ __ of __." The stamped language font is consistent with the font style displayed in the Deathwish logo. The release number, "57" is hand-written above the first underscore. The second underscore contains a unique hand-written number. Finally, the number, "15" is hand-written above the third and final underscore, indicating the total amount of tests.
However, it is worth noting that the Deathwish pressing data reflects a total of 16 tests.
The Test Press is released with the same generic gatefold jacket that accompanies the production run releases.
The catalog number of this release can be found in the language present in the lower left corner on the back of the jacket — This is DWI57
