Description

An original 2nd press of Disraeli Gears from Spring 1968. Matrix A1/B2. Disraeli Gears sold in heavy numbers throughout much of 1968 - this copy dates from Spring '68 whilst the album still charted. Whilst 1st press can be found with the A1/B1 matrix and a fully laminated sleeve - this is the next iteration of the matrix number and the sleeve is identical to a 1st issue but for the lamination lacking on the rear. The all important indicator of a relatively early copy is found on the rear. The format 'mono' is still indicated in the top left corner. By summer '68 this would have been moved over to the top-right corner and found in a white box. The original white 'patents applied for' inner sleeve is also present. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) Well this is one very well preserved copy - it has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a few light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Just what every CREAM fan wants....Pure mono audio powering through with nothing getting in the way - a lovely clean rendition. There's the power of the intense sections and the delicacy of the quieter moments...the cymbal strikes are astonishingly realistic. Interference is, thankfully, close to non-existent. All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments - i.e. practically nothing!!! What a copy...getting very close to perfect...there really is nothing to complain at all. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex) In beautiful condition and has clearly been cared for down the years. Lovely clean and shiny front - we can only make out one minuscule crease! The rear could be a problem area due to the lack of lamination, but I gotta tell ya - this copy is sweeeet. NO creasing and barely any ageing at all. There's one tiny sticker removal mark in the top left corner, but you'd have to strain your eyes to even make it out. Edge wear is unusually light and the openings are still quite sharp. The spine is in very nice condition and you can just about make out all the text - not perfectly, but more or less. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat. A truly stunning specimen.
