Description
Got this copy from an old collection so think this is an early vinyl reissue of one of the all time top LA psych LPs (by the way check out his reunion show on youtube, pretty intense). On Ank Productions with an address in LA on the label, no catalog number, made with old style paste on slicks and is copy # 83 of 400. M-/M- condition, front slick glued on faintly wavy but looks just fine. In the pre internet days when secret dudes in each city were channeling their local monsters to get other local monsters from other secret dudes globally (the days when contacts were so secret, when someone mailed you an LP with a reused mailer, they would block out the return address so you wouldn't know who their source was)... and when they sent you a cassette of a big new discovery they would rearrange the track sequence and leave something off. It was truly a treasure hunt in the most psychedelic twilight zone way back in the '70s, walking into a used record shop and instantly going for the cheapest bins since that is where all the private pressings would be. Ah, memory lane is sparked by my getting a gatefold Damon for a Circuit Rider way back in the infancy of this scene when both LPs were so heavy & unknown it was like being in a mystic desert tent haggling over undiscovered hidden glimpses into an alternate universe... though I had accumulated lots of odd LPs ever since the late '60s, the turning point for me was the day three copies of the new release "Attic Demonstration" by Kenneth Higney arrived as promos at a friends house/recording studio in Far Hills, NJ 1977 and threw me way down the rabbit hole... friends thought it was the worst thing they ever heard, but I noticed all the smarter ones 'got it' that this is primitive art equal to any 'fine' art...and loaded with uniquely expressed emotion....like the all time wig out for me was when after a long day in thrift shops in Manhattan early '80s I found a Peter Grudzien just couldn't wait to get to my apartment to find it exceeded my wildest hopes by miles...and still get a chill everytime I am hearing such deep art, real art, not the contrived art scene pretentious dog race. Or the day I discovered in the UK Dark 'Round The Edges" gatefold version original circa '84 in a South Kensington area shop for 10 Pounds! Boy did that night in Camden Town turn into a party. Or the day 36 sealed copies of New Dawn arrived in my mail, or the first Fraction in '82 or '83 when a friend who managed bands was selling his records and the rarest thing was Nazz 2nd until I hit the 'F' section and there was Fraction in perfect shape, he had managed a later country band one of the Fraction dudes was in, a manic search soon after led me to four sealed copies!! Or Azitis mint in a religious bin at a record fair for a dollar. Same price in that guitar/record shop under the Chelsea Hotel when a copy of "A Letter Home" was in the Christmas bin. And boxes of XIT Entrance, multiple Mystic Sivas, multiple bonafide 1st press Marcus House Of Trax, LPs I couldn't give away when I took 'em as trade bait in the early '80s in the UK! APOLOGIES for the ramblin'... happens once in a orange moon...
