Dave Davies, underrated lead guitarist of classic 60's/70's UK pop/rock group The Kinks was brother of Ray Davies, lead singer/songwriter of the same group. Dave Davies released 4 singles between 1967 and 1969 and this one EP - the rarity of this EP cannot be overstated and is considered a classic of that same era. Highly, highly collectable.
The condition of the vinyl is very good+ : most of the original sheen has been retained though there are some surface hairlines, just visble when held up against a bright light - no ugly scuffs or scratches, however.
The quality of the audio is also very good+ : there is, inevitably for vinyl of this age, some background crackle (slightly more in evidence on side 2, track 1) but nothing to significantly impede upon the overall very good+ audio quality. Once the tracks get going the crackle becomes less, if barely, noticeable.
The tracks are :
Side 1 : Death Of A Clown, Love Me Till The Sun Shines Side 2 : Funny Face, Suzannah's Still Alive
The record labels are both EXCELLENT with just some mild, barely visible spindle wear in evidence around the centre hole. There is no unwanted writing and no blemishes of note (see photos).
The outer, original picture sleeve is in EXCELLENT- condition - all the edges are near perfect with no scuffing, there is some minor surface laminate creasing in each corner but the laminate does it's job admirably of embellishing the photo of Dave Davies garbed in classic 60's apparel - it doesn't get much better than that!! The reverse flip back side is non-laminate and is in very good+ condition, the only blemish of any real note being some chaffing close to where the "DAVE DAVIES HITS" writing is : in the photo you will barely notice this blemish but it is there and just noticeable in the flesh, so as to speak.
Overall the condition of this rare, and increasingly highly sought after 47year old gem is EXCELLENT- : not perfect or near mint, however, so if you're looking for a perfect/near mint copy then don't bid! But I really do think you'll have difficulty finding a better condition copy if you can find another copy at all!
A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 40 years and have a huge collection. A combination of space requirements and a need to help fund my imminent retirement as a high school Maths teacher has prompted me to "rationalise" my collection and sell some of my much loved gems. My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy. If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige. There is NO RESERVE on this item, by the way. Richard
