Description
Very elusive in this earliest pressing and lovely condition, this is a beautiful copy of German DGG SLPM 138009, part of the very first stereo releases for DGG in '58/'59. The disc is a thick pancake "Alle Hersteller," and the sewn gatefold cover, dated 11/1958, has "STEREO" in thin letters, a red stereo sticker, with ads for the other initial DGG stereo releases on the back. Eva Bernathova joins the Janacek Quartet to play the Op 34 Piano Quintet of Brahms.
This record was auditioned with a Goldring 1042 cartridge, Music Hall TT, Densen amplification and Epos speakers. The thick disc looks glossy and superb, and plays quietly at about NM. The crisp cover looks near-new, but has a touch of rig wear, thus VG+ or better.
This is a true collector's copy of this earliest stereo DGG--you are unlikely to find better.
