Description

I have shown 12 photos of this very rare Don Shinn Departures UK Stereo LP on Columbia EMI Records from 1969. It is from The Lansdowne Series and the catalogue number is- SCX 6355. It is a UK 1st pressing and the matrix numbers are- YAX 3878 - 1U        YAX 3879 - 1U . It has 1G  1G Mother stampers. The record is visually beautiful near mint with no marks on it at all and a lovely glossy lustre sheen. I have play tested it on my Thorens turntable as seen in my photos and it plays through absolutely beautifully. There are just a few very quiet light static ticks on side 1. Apart from that it plays flawlessly throughout-stunning. It has a lovely punchy full sound and this LP took me nicely by surprise upon playing it. There is a real fusion of sounds here on this magnificent LP. Both labels are in super clean near mint condition with just a couple of very feint small spindle trails upon close inspection-if you tilt the record and look very closely. They are hardly noticeable though. The laminated fronted sleeve is in EX+ very clean condition with a great spine. The text on the spine is very bold and fully legible. The opening edge is also lovely. The rear of the sleeve is also very clean and it has still got the shop price sticker intact which gives a nice historical feel to it. Its absurd to think back in 1969 when this LP was on the shelves it did not sell-so they dropped the price several times as per the sticker. The last price sticker from Woolworths is 30p.That will have been in early 1971 when decimilisation kicked in. It took around an astonishing 18 months to sell this fabulous LP.There was certainly no accounting for taste when it came to this LP. Just underneath this Woolworths 30p sticker there is the backing residue of another small Woolworths sticker-this will have been peeled off upon placing the 30p sticker on. Just to make it clear that the peeled off sticker has left its gummed backing and has not ripped the sleeve The original EMI inner sleeve is also very clean and near mint with no side splits. This record has been very well looked after and hardly played at all. You will search high and wide and for a long time to try and find one that is anywhere near as nice as this one-your search is over. I send Worldwide and combine postage
