Description
This is my own original copy of PINK FLOYDS' - DARK SIDE OF THE MOON bought new from Malcolm's Musicland in
Chorley when I was just 15 years old !
The shop is still in business to this day selling vinyl !
At the time of its release this was one of the most anticipated albums of the year. I already had all the early
'Floyd' albums but this was perhaps the most eagerly awaited record I ever bought as it was ordered weeks
in advance and was the first 'Floyd' album I had ever bought on the actual day of release.
I remember the day well !!!
I have this habit whereby anything new that I really think a lot about rarely gets used - shoes,
clothes even a quad bike as I want to maintain it and keep it pristine.
This is EXACTLY the same with this album. I can honestly say it has not been played more
than 10 times in 38 years - if that !!! I haven't actually owned a turntable for the last 10 years !
It was my pride and joy at the time I bought and it has spent the majority of its life in a sealed record
case - vertically upright at all times. It has never been on a shelf, in direct light or in a cupboard,
not even on show.
It has been sympathetically stored away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures at all times.
I even made sure that the open end of the inner sleeve was never at the open end of the cover so as
to protect it at all time !
You can see from the pictures that the spindle hole is in perfect 'factory' condition proving the limited
play this record has had.
I have tried to photograph the record showing both sides of the playing surface so that you can appreciate
just how good the condition of this album REALLY IS !
There are only a very few faint surface marks that in truth occur when removing the record from its inner
sleeve.
I don't have the posters - I was 15 at the time and these were - I am afraid, adorned on my bedroom wall !!!
I have listed some of the 'boring' information that anyone seriously interested in buying this album would
already know without me listing it - but these are the facts:
