Description
COLLECTOR'S ALERT. Dave Brubeck Trio "Distinctive Rhythm Instrumentals" 1951-52 Fantasy Records 3-1, 3-2, 3-3 and 3-4, mono, 10". Free Shipping. All four LPs from the original DRI-titled series! Serious Brubeck collectors will want these, recorded when Dave had just turned 30 years old. Sleeves are uniformly very good, with only light scuff and original pencil prices on the back, some age yellowing (see photos). Excellent range (EX or EX-) for the first three, VG+ for the last one, which has a little more scuffing. Vinyl is all still shiny, but a mixed bag beyond that. Number 3-1, which I'll rate just Good (G), is on the beat up side, with multiple light scratches and scuffs that are hard to see in the photo. They're not affecting playback as much as you might think looking at them, just a moderate crackle and pop, but at the very beginning there's a sort of hiss, which quiets down as the record plays on. 3-2 is also a little beat up, with multiple light scratches and scuffs, but the "September" side is quieter than the "Moon" side, and I'll rate it overall Good Plus (G+). 3-3 is in the best shape, visually very nice, also with some initial hiss that fades and only the lightest of crackle, definitely a Very Good (VG) piece of vinyl. 3-4 is also better than the first two, with only slight visual scuff, and only a light crackle, but throughout, I'd say a Very Good minus (VG-). Ran out of free photos in the listing, but images of all the vinyl are available on request. All in all, they are playing back well enough for exceptional collecting and listening pleasure, but because the vinyl is no longer mint, you get a great price on the set. Just cleaned with a VPI wet-vac system. I'll pay the shipping via USPS Media Mail.
