HERE AND NOW AND SOUNDING GOOD
This is an original 1966 Mercury recording, (as rare as hen’s teeth), record and sleeve in superb condition! Absolutely no scuffs or scratches. There is a slight audible surface noise on the quieter passages on ballads etc. but this won’t spoil the listening.
This was Dick’s second recording with his regular working quartet, fresh from their triumph at the 1966 International Jazz festival at Lugano, and they are in rip-roaring form. This is renowned to be one of Dick’s best ever recordings.
Dick was playing a marvellous gig with Scott Hamilton at the famous ‘Bull’s Head’ at Barnes, London in 1990, (most of which I taped) and during the break, he was kind enough to sign the back cover of this record for me. Dick Morrissey has been very sadly missed by all jazz fans since his untimely death, and this is a wonderful legacy of his earlier playing!
