Donovan H.M.S Donovan 2xLP RARE UK Import 70s 2nd Version Purple Dawn Labels VG/VG.
For auction is a very good listeners copy of H.M.S. Donovan by Scottish singer, songwriter and musician, Donovan. His ninth studio album but second children’s music record and second double-LP released in July 1971. Half the album are original compositions of kid songs by Donovan while the other half are traditional folk songs, hymns and classic children’s poems. This includes segments of Lewis Carroll’s Alice And Wonderland and Through The Looking-Glass with musical arrangements written by him. The album was only released and reissued shortly after in the UK and therefore is rare. This copy is a reissue with the 2nd version purple Dawn labels released in 1972-1973. The original has orange labels while a later third version has white labels with a big half sum in middle.
Vinyl is play graded VG. Record 1 has a few barely visible surface marks. Record 2 has some light visible surface marks but nothing deep. Both play with mild background noise at times that is never overwhelming. Neither has any skips or jumps. Please see pics.
Gatefold cover is also in VG condition. Shelf wear of light scuffing on seams but no splits. Title is fully legible. All the corners have wear but the bottom right on back is dented. Very light ring wear on both sides. Please see pics.
