Description
Nice and clean example of Donovan's extraordinary 1971 album on the orange Dawn label, catalogue no.DNLD4001. Judging by the matrix numbers, this is a first pressing. The album comes complete with its original polylined inner bags.
Gatefold Sleeve : Very Good - (minus). Generally very clean but with some ringwear apparent on the front and reverse, as well as some white marks on the front. The spine has been carefully repaired with Scotch invisible tape and looks very presentable. There is a name,'Gill', wriiten on the reverse. There is also some writing on the inner gatefold where someone has completed a children's verse.
Inner bags : Very Good - (minus). Some fading around the edges of both bags.
Record 1 : Very Good. Some surface noise apparent at the beginning of both sides 1 and 2. There is no clear reason for this, as the record has obviously been well cared for. I would think it was a fault at the pressing stage.
Record 2 : Very Good - (minus). Quite a lot of spindle wear, and again some surface noise at the beginning of both sides 3 & 4. There is a small tear mark on the label on side 3. There is also a small inaudible hairline mark on side 3, and two similar marks on side 4.

All records are sent in a heavy-duty envelope with two stiffeners and a protective plastic sleeve.
I try to be as accurate as possible and I use the Record Collector gradings as follows, with + or – as appropriate:
MINT
The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT
The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD
The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD
The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR
The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR
The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD
The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
