Description
About This Record. This is a very rare guaranteed original USA STEREO Test Pressing copy of the Door’s Absolutely Live 2LP on Elektra EKS 9002 that features Live Doors concert cuts from1969 and 1970. The vinyl sound quality is killer because the vinyl weighs 133 grams compared to the stock LPs which weigh about 108 grams! There is one “stick” in the LP from a factory defect during the music on Side one, and another at the end of Side One after the music stops and the crowd is clapping, but this is still a very nice item. Doors Test Pressings are incredibly rare and sought after. Good Luck. No RESERVE!.
[P.S.: A MONO Test Pressing of this LP is rumored to exist but unconfirmed (hehehe). A Mono pressing only exists in Brazil and that is a single LP version.]
Please note that I work for eBay and eBay company policy requires that I inform any potential bidders of this fact, and direct them through this link to the Code I have to abide by as an eBay employee: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/everyone-employee.html No, I don't work in the collectibles division or anything, I'm just a regular eBay employee like you and me who lives near San Jose and is a vinyl hound but is required to tell you this.
About Me. I have been a Record Collector for over 35 years. With two kids in college, I often sell records so I can buy more vinyl or, in this case, pay the last college tuition bills of the year! 99% of what I sell is vinyl; read my Feedback! Common LPs are a waste of your time and mine! I bought this many years ago during my travels and have kept in well preserved. This comes in a new rice paper equivalent sleeve, and new 4 mil plastic sleeve.
Cover Condition. VG+. The cover is a very slightly darker hue (color) than the stock copies, consistent with this being a Test Pressing. But the color is not as dark as on my L.A. Woman Test Press I just sold. The Gatefold cover has a drill hole top left, medium ring wear on front and back covers (like most copies). Strong spine and bottom seam. Top seam and corners have light wear.
Vinyl Condition. Sides 2, 3, and 4 LOOK visually EX because of light paper marks and a fingerprints on each side that are noticeable but do not seem to affect play. Sides 2, 3, and 4 play on my $$$$ finicky turntable and cartridge EX to EX+ with many (40%-50%?) Near Mint moments but there are a few miscellaneous pops, but no scratches that make repetitive ticks etc. Some of the quieter moments when Jim is doing his spontaneous speak-art have some noticeable background noise, but the LP in general does not and is very quiet. HOWEVER, Side 1 has a long but very light stylus mark across ¾ of the side which does not seem to affect play. IMPORTANTLY, like with my L.A. Woman Test Pressing I sold a few weeks back, there is a factory defect in the last song on side one where Jim sings “Love is the Answer” it sticks on “Love is the Ans-“. There is NO noticeable defect at that point in the record; a phantom skip that must be a factory defect. I have washed it 3 times on my VPI machine and inspected closely but do not see any problem. Also, the record sticks at the very end of Side 1 after the music during the crowd applause; saves you from having to get up and pick up the stylus before it rips across the label and damages your stylus! Rest of Side one plays EX+ mainly. STILL VERY NICE!
