Description

This is an LP acetate cut at De Lane Lea and was, as far as I know, the only cut.I have been collecting acetates for over 30 years and you get to know which artists generate many and others less. Basically many of the 60’s acetates you may see were for and from publishers trying to get interest from performers. This LP is a technical test

copy and believe me RCA wouldn’t spend more than they needed to-so one would have sufficient.

It does have a few odd light hairlines but is basically in fabulous shape. It will be deep cleaned before dispatch. And I will add a few clips later

HISTORY

This was a group that should have enjoyed far more success than they did as they were one of the best mid-1970s pub rockers.

Ducks Deluxe came together in 1972.  The original line up consisted of –

Martin Belmont -ex-Brinsley Schwarz roadie/lead guitarist

Drummer-Tim Roper.

Sean Tyla -multi-instrumentalist,

Ken Whaley-ex Help Yourself bass player( replaced by Nick Garvey.

Signed by RCA Victor, the group made their debut with the 1973 single 'Coast To Coast' which attracted considerable media attention, including  John Peel who became an early champion. An LP followed in 1974-"Ducks Deluxe"which found The Ducks unleashed a blazing set of roots rock clearly showing their affection for Chuck Berry and Eddie Cochrane.  Not that they were trapped in the 1950s.  With Tyla handling lead vocals, ' West Texas Trucking Board' bore more than a passing resemblance to Bob Dylan, while 'Fireball' proved the band could do a credible Lou Reed imitation.  That versatility was due in part to the fact all four members wrote material and the band was also blessed with three decent singers - each exhibiting a different style and set of strengths.
