nearly perfect 2nd issue of this classic heavy psych LP. Stored in plastic with the inner turned upward, the jacket has the slightest shelf wear and is a high VG+. This was an archival copy and unplayed. It's mastered by RL in dead wax on both sides, and the grooves are deep and HOT, with great smooth sounding fuzz-soaked power trio pro to-metal with lots of early use of WAH WAH… just amazing sound quality on this heavy vinyl pressing. nice, and From a dry Camel and most of the LP is a stoner classic you listen to from front to back… these guys sport t shirts from the powder ridge music festival on the back… which is a GREAT footnote of the sad things that happened in the late 60s… powder ridge was a festival much like woodstock, which featured the biggest names of the day… it was at a ski resort and put on by some folks that wanted to have a great festival and help the town generate some revenue… DUST was slated to play at one of the small stages and also were involved in staging and managing the talent and technical issues… WHEN at the last minute the city council decided, against all reason, that they didn't want this festival of freaks in their little white-bred town… they got an injunction to stop the festival… with the promoters already in for tens of thousands of dollars. They did this less than a week before the show… SO… what happened? tens of thousands of freaks showed up ANYWAY and camped out at the site… the power was cut by the local authorities and everyone was warned that if they played, they would go to jail… BUT folks like DUST and MELANIE thumbed their noses and played anyway…. how, you ask? By using the power from the many ice cream trucks that were to sell their wares to the concert goers. Their trucks had some beefy generators for use in refrigerating their wares and ran at 120 volts… so DUST and MELANIE were able to play their concerts clandestine and guerrilla fashion to the folks who showed up. I think it makes for a great story, possibly a movie and don't think that this was a great story of the freaks winning out against the establishment… it was a disaster… the money was "lost" and never refunded… no one was paid and everyone lost their butts… and the bored campers were left with nothing to do but take massive amounts of low quality drugs to stave off the boredom… so the city got a double dose of crazy freaks, now that they were juiced up on got knows what and roaming the area looking for a good time… hope they got what they deserved! May their carbonized bones, horn rims and buzz cuts rot in hell! heheh Enjoy the vinyl!
