Better version of Egypt Strut, promo only release
VA - Egypt a holiday souvenir EMI Greece 19??Egyptian Holy Grail status here! More rare than the treasures found inside Pharaoh's tombs, this collection of tunes picked for the entertainment of 1970's tourists visiting Egypt was pressed up in Greece but it seems like the record was never properly distributed. The music on this compilation ranges from the tune that justifies its grail status by Salah Ragab, to more instrumentals in early 70s mode that bring a unique merger between middle eastern sounds and jazz with a funky touch here and there.
I quote some knowledge about the Salah Ragab track which is known as 'Egypt Strut' in another version: "Jazzman re-issued Egypt Strut a while back. Egypt strut was only released on a limited 45 in the 70’s. But this version here called “Amber of the Nile” is different version and much better because it doesn’t have the boring parts of the Egypt Strut take."
The packaging is equally nice with a fold-out cover. Both record and sleeve were mint when I got them, and I have only played them a couple of times. You may want to set your bids wisely because my other copy on Ebay sold for 330 U$! This here is my only spare copy.
