Title: "Speedway" Fine original first pressing Catalog Number: LSP-3989 Condition Of Item: Cover M/Record M-/Photo M Year of Issue: 1968
I bought this album on line after reading an article stating that this specific album could be worth a lot of money. (I have attached the article in the pictures of this listing.) After some research I think that the most valuable "Speedway" album is the Mono version. However, any Elvis "Speedway" album from the 60s that includes this picture, which is in MINT condition, and is in the original shrink wrap with the RED sticker is about as good as it gets. It came in a mylar sleeve and I put it in a poly album sleeve on top of that. The mylar sleeve is very tight so if one wanted to take the album sleeve out of the mylar sleeve you'd have to be very careful because you don't want to damage the shrink wrap in any way. I would just leave it in, I've got the inner sleeve, album and picture in the poly album sleeve which has a bit more room for handling. So it is a collectors album, not really intended to be played, but it certainly could be put on a turntable and would play beautifully. These days I just buy the CD to listen to and put the album in a safe place. It's more of an investment than anything.
This is the description provided by the very reputable expert seller I bought it from: In 1965 RCA started a trend - that would be to advertise and include bonus' in his albums. These albums are very hard to find these days complete. This is one of those elusive albums that still has all of the bonus' intact from 1968. The album cover on this one is in mint condition, still totally within its original shrink wrap and on the shrink is the extremely hard to find red bonus sticker. Inside is a great original record, it is a beauty, can not call out any flaws. And to top everything off the original perfect bonus photo is present, looks like it never came out of the cover, just in stunning shape. Most of these went to the nearest wall and have pin holes at best, not this one, just about as nice as you will find. Valued in the three figures in this kind of condition, just a wonderful complete 1968 release.
