Description
This auction is for Ebony Records 78rpm four song EP #1006 "Mama Don't Allow (No Presley Shaking in Here)" & Daddy Rock Me One More Time" by Googie Watkins, Alfrena Shelton, Larry Shaw - Sheltons under direction of Norma Shelton b/w "Rain Drops Are Falling" & "Concentrate Baby" by the Humming Tones with the Sheltons. The first song's title "Mama Don't Allow (No Presley Shaking in Here)" is an obvious reference to Elvis presley. The label for side A says "Vocal Dance Ensemble" and on the B side "Vocal Dance". Ebony was a small Chicago label. This record is unplayed store stock that I bought about 15 years ago, from the stock of a record store that had been open since the 1940s. This is an original pressing from the 1950s. I would grade this as Excellent or better - I doubt it has ever been played and the vinyl is shiny. I'll describe any minor problems: LABEL: on the Mama Don't Allow side there is a very tiny (less than 1/16") nick out of the outer rim of the label at about the 5:30 location, doesn't reach into the silver band (just to the right of the bottom center of the label) - this probably the way it came from the factory. Rain Drops side: a little excess vinyl around edge of spindle hole. RECORD: there are a few very light, small scuff marks that are probably from taking it out of the sleeve - there is one larger scuff mark on the Rain Drops / Concentrate side. A HARD-TO-FIND SMALL CHICAGO LABEL! Media Postage is $4.00. Priority postage is $12 to $14, depending on your distance from Chicago. Check out my other auctions for a few other 78rpms on the Ebony label, all unused store stock.
