I purchased this Ella Fitzgerald set about 10 years ago from a record store in Bend, Oregon. It was a rare treat to find a Mom & Pop record store, and I felt compelled to support it.

I've listened to all five discs in full. The records are overall in at least Very Good condition, with a few pops on each disc and some minor skips here and there. There are no sticks, and the light scratches are minimal, not detracting from the sound. The color remains very strong.

The original soft plastic sleeves are still included, though I've placed each record in a new VRP sleeve for added protection.

The accompanying songbook is in Excellent condition, showcasing the set beautifully.

Unfortunately, the lithograph set of five Buffet prints and the 6th disc were missing when I purchased it.

The box itself is in Fair condition. While the cover is in Very Good shape, the corners are worn—one is split and has been taped back together. The back shows considerable shelf wear, and the right side is rough, with the catalog number partially torn away, making it hard to identify the specific set.

Ultimately, it’s all about the music. There’s no better artist than Ella Fitzgerald to bring the Gershwin Brothers’ songs to life, with Nelson Riddle’s arrangements adding brilliance. While opinions may vary, I personally find the pops and slight skips add an authentic charm that transports you to back to a very different era.
