Description

An original 1st press of GI Blues from 1960 on RCA silver spot. Tax Code "ET" = 1960. Note the labels mention 'Recording 1st pub 1960'. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono scalloped cover. The scalloped flipbacks are indicative of 1st issue [they were discontinued soon after 1st release]. Also included is an original Decca poly-lined inner sleeve from the early 60's. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Many copies were played to death. Thankfully this example seems to have survived the years way better than what you usually tend to experience. Pretty clean player right into those tricky low-key numbers like 'Wooden Heart'. Interference is minor and infrequent. Expect nothing more than a touch of lightest static in a couple of tracks per side. The only track where it's vaguely noticeable is 'Big Boots' - due to it's very low-key nature. Overall a really nicely preserved copy.
Cover (Ex) Again, very difficult to find these true 1960 originals in top line condition. This example is looking very spritely considering it's relative age. Remember this LP is three years older than an original PPM Black & Gold copy by the Beatles. There's no ageing front and back - which is unusual. The front is borderline immaculate with no creasing and barely a mark. The rear looks superb too with all flipbacks perfectly intact and just a touch of sticker residue right at the top. The spine is 100% intact - perfect. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. But no splits.
