Description

An original Mono 1st press. Matrix 1B/1B. Stampers 1G/1M - placing it amongst the first few thousand copies ever pressed! Note the label's mention 'recording 1st published' - and the tax code exhibited is 'OT'...all correct for 1961. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original Decca poly-lined inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In great condition particularly given its relative age. Under close inspection I could only make a couple of the very lightest marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. By and large a really nice clean playing copy. And, remember, most of the audio is low-key nature and very fussy. Being so close to those original masters and the preservation levels are certainly paying off - a very clear and revealing presentation. The deviations are....one is a solitary pop in 'Almost Always True'. Then there's just a bit of light background static during some of the tracks toward the end of side 2... 'Hawaiian Sunset' & 'Island of Love' & 'Wedding Song'. Nothing invasive ..they just don't play as clean as the rest of the LP...A really sweet playing copy for sure... all the way from '61.
Cover (Ex-) Anyone familiar with these early 60's covers will know just how darn hard it is to find a decent looking example. But this copy bucks the trend...A touch of light ageing on the front, but no major issues like laminate lift or creasing. The rear is somewhat miraculous and remains very nice and white, with only the top edge and the spine edge suffering ageing - this is way better than what typically surfaces. Edge wear is relatively light and the spine totally intact. Overall a terrific looking specimen.
Inner (Ex-) Minimal ageing. No splits or markings.
