Description
Eye- Interlock/Memory Slip LATHE CUT 7” + Meridian CD-R (CMR 19)
Very rare lathe cut 7" and CD set from Eye on Richard Francis' (Eso Steel) CMR imprint. Eye are a central band in the United Fairy Moons' label collective associated with members of The Sandoz Lab Technicians including Alastair Galbraith's band The $100 Band (with who Ryan Cockburn's Spit shared a split UFM lathe 10").Eye here are:
Peter Stapleton (The Terminals/Dadamah/Rain/The Victor Dimisich Band/Flies Inside The Sun/The Pin Group/Scorched Earth Policy/Sleep/Pieters-Russell-Stapleton [with The Dead C's Bruce Russell and Dooramar's Kim Pieters])
Peter Porteous (Electricity/Lapdog)
Ryan Cockburn (Spit)
Eye were featured on the Wire Magazine CD "Dirt Beneath The Daydream".
Audiofoundation says of Eye:
Eye were formed in 2003, consisting of Peter Stapleton (drums, tape loops, short wave radio), Peter Porteous (guitar, Tibetan bowl) and Nathan Thompson (guitar, laptop). In 2005 Nathan went to Sydney and Ryan Cockburn (turntablist) joined the band. Two years later Ryan left for Melbourne, Nathan returned and the original lineup is what we have now.
The music is improvised, with intense dynamics... very quiet, very loud, often performed to film. The Black Ice CD was voted number 3 on Thurston Moore and Byron Coley's Bull Tongue best things of 2005.
7" is MINT- (note that lathe cut discs have some surface noise from the nature of the King lathe cutting process) /Cover is VG+ (some unevenness that kind of looks like light moisture damage but is most likely from the gluing of the cover or the CD inserted mis-shaping the sleeve...that has seen no moisture since I bought it new from the label).
