LE SAMOURAI / JEF ET VALERIE / VALERIE / MARTEY'S / HOTEL SANDWICH / JEF ET JEANNE ... 7-inch, 45rpm OST EP single by FRANCOIS DE ROUBAIX. Original French 1st biem pressing on the green PHILIPS label (437.389 BE), from 1967. Desirable, French jazz masterpiece featuring an exquisite mix of modal jazz quartet themes plus a cinematic theme led by psychedelic hammond and even a beautiful Parisian accordion interlude, with jazz backing. Our soundclip opens with MARTEY'S (quartet setting with flute) then the bewitching JEF ET JEANNE followed by the rest of the score. Sublime playing that captures the lonesome / seductive mood of this important gangster film set in late '60s Paris. For sure, Alain Delon's finest moment on celluloid playing the roll of Jef Costello, a contract killer with Japanese Samurai instincts. Very cool mood music from the cult film Le Samourai by maverick director, Jean-Pierre Melville also starring Nathalie Delon and Francois Perier. Sleeve artwork to die for too with iconic image of Delon and back sleeve epigraph quote from Le Bushido ;) Seldom comes up for sale in nice condition as most copies are usually quite trashed. Rare OST EP!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition overall with some hairlines / faint scuffs. Light surface noises. Soft pops / soft ticks in places (as you can hear on our soundclip) but impossible to find mint. The laminated, stiff card picture sleeve is closer to M- condition with some wear to the original languette. Sharp looking item. Natural age discoloration. Rare OST EP!!!
