rare German first press vinyl 2LP box set released in the 1950s on red/gold ELECTROLA / HIS MASTER'S VOICE label with catalognumber WALP 1286 and WALP 1287.
Yes, this is one of the very early pressings which was released right after the red box version, and has the following matrixnumbers in the trail-off vinyl:
2XRA 16-1
2XRA 17-1
2XRA 18-4
2XRA 19-1 ...
The labels have the square [33] on the lower label rim, and there is NO APPLAUSE at the end of the fourth set.
Collectors and audiophiles will know that later pressings came with a triangle 33 on the labels, and applause is heard at the end of the fourth set.
Beautiful clothbound box with gold lettering on the spine, complete with booklet and stitched innersleeves, with vinyl in pristine NEARMINT/MINT condition - perfect! Best copy I have found in many years ...
Famous reference performance by Furtwangler conducting the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra, and a veryrare find in this fantastic condition.
