Frank Zappa, Mothers 3-LP Lot, First 3 albums on Verve, VG, VG+
A good starter kit for Zappa collectors until better copies come along, all of these will need upgrades. But they are all first pressings, all stereo, all on the Verve label.
Freak Out!
Vinyl--- Both LP’s have a moderate amount of scratches on each side, none are feelable. But there are a lot without being trashed. All 4 sides play with surface noise. 3 sides have some sort of spillage on them, which doesn’t cause the records to skip, but does contribute to the surface noise. Don’t know if it can be washed off, I didn’t try. See photo. I brightened it, so that you can see the texture and shape of the stains in the grooves, but they don’t look this menacing in person.
Cover--- VG. General wear.
Labels--- All 4 labels look great, light spindle marks.
Inner Sleeve--- Generic white inners, not Verve sleeves.

Vinyl--- Far less scratches than Freak Out! This vinyl actually looks too good to be listed as VG, but it does play with surface noise. I strongly suspect that a VPI cleaning is going to revitalize this copy very nicely. While it’s definitely not NM, this is a strong enough copy to be a play copy on a really good table.
Cover--- VG. General wear. Also looks like it has some moisture damage warpage, which is why it’s in this lot. Swap the cover out, and you’ve got a really good copy.
Labels--- Beautiful labels. One light spindle mark on Side A label.
Inner Sleeve--- Generic white inners, not Verve sleeve.
We’re Only in It for the Money
Vinyl--- Heartbreaking VG. This copy would have been VG++, had it not been for a series of short linear scratches that you CAN feel with your fingertip, that DO sound on each rotation and that DOES make the record repeat for the first minute. I took this to my buddy’s house to test-play, and one thing I will say is that after the scratches, this LP plays NM. Also, if you’re into sampling obscure sounds, the repeats that are caused here are absolutely fascinating, because of the weird experimentalism anyway, of that track. Not kidding, I was thinking of keeping it for myself, but I know that this will be one of the projects I will never get to.
Cover--- VG. General wear. Previous owner used a pin to scoop out the eyes of some of the band members, though.
Labels--- Beautiful labels. One light spindle mark on Side 2 label.
Inner Sleeve--- Generic white inners, not Verve sleeve.

(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
