BLUE NOTE MONO VINYL 1ST PRESSING!
Very seldom seen in UK auctions is this beautiful MONO FIRST PRESSING of Freddie Hubbard's hard-bop classic, Hub-Tones (Blue Note BLP 4115). This is a rare opportunity to get your hands on a really lovely original copy of this Blue Note original, complete with Plastylite ear! A great combination of stellar musicianship and wonderful sound. I have fully play-tested the vinyl, so my grading is based on how the record actually sounds, as well as how it looks.
Vinyl is strictly graded in Excellent- condition, with slight crackle at the start of side 2 but otherwise a generally nice quiet soundstage throughout. All characteristics of the first Mono pressing are present (VAN GELDER stamp, ear on both sides, NEW YORK USA on labels etc.) Having played the album in full, it sounds clear, punchy and loud throughout, being another Rudy Van Gelder special! Visually, there are a few hairlines, and a cosmetic surface blemish on the last track on side 2 (shown in the photos), but none of these appear to affect the audio on playback.
The laminated, dimpled cover is graded in Excellent- condition, due to a few small smudges on the back cover text and a previous owner's name written in the top-left back corner, each of which can be seen in the photos. However, it is structurally sound and otherwise in superb condition - and with one of the all-time great Blue Note cover designs.
Blue Note inner sleeve also included (switched over from the original at some point, as it's dated 1965).
Note that I separate the vinyl from the outer sleeve for postage to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me, and in the way I'd like to receive them.
