Description

This is one of 4 original jazz LPs I am listing that date from the late 50s to the early 60s.There is this Blue Note, a Riverside and 2 from the Esquire label. All 4 of them are well known classic albums and, to the best of my belief, all are original first pressings in the UK. I have owned them since new and now have them on CD reissues -for better or maybe for worse! I am assuming if you're reading this you are not into 'Take That' compilations nor the latest 'One Direction' album - you will know all about jazz from the very top era of jazz in the 20th century.

I am aware that some jazz vinyl enthusiasts will buy duplicate copies of favourite records in the hope that either the vinyl of the newer copy will be better or maybe they are looking for a better cover. Accordingly I have gone to some trouble to photograph the covers - front and back - and shall endeavor to describe their conditions as accurately as possible.

'The Connection' played in London during 1960 with both Freddie Redd and Jackie McLean in the cast and I was lucky enough to see/hear it. I bought this Blue Note soon after and have enjoyed the music ever since. It was a highly successful release for Blue Note, but please contact me if you need information regarding the actual tracks. The vinyl is in excellent condition and plays with little or no surface noise. The number is Blue Note 4027 and, yes, it has the deep groove round the label! By the way, that's the reflection of my hand and camera you can see on the label picture. The cover is typical of the Blue Note covers of the era and remains in a clean, sturdy condition. My photograph of the cover front does not do it justice - it is better than it looks here. The white stripe at the lower edge of the left hand side is not a tear - it is where the title has been printed on a white background. The picture of the back shows where the imperfections are, but there are no splits or tears. I don't think the inner cover is the original. Any questions please ask now rather than later!
