Description

1967 United Artists Records UAS 6631, this is an original US stereo pressing of the classic self titled album from The Hassles, a record best known as being the first release featuring legendary singer/pianist Billy Joel. This copy was signed and presented back in 1968 to radio DJ Big Ed Baer, who was one of the part time WMCA "Good Guys" during the 1960's. It is inscribed "To Big Ed Baer" on the front cover, with each band member signing over their picture inside the gatefold. Joel signed his "Many Thanx, Billy Joe," which was the stage moniker he was going by when this album was released. Note: bassist Howie Blauvelt left and rejoined the band, so his replacement at this time, Phil Marden, signed over the photo of Blauvelt. Gatefold jacket is in excellent condition, showing at most some minor rubbing/handling. LP grades Excellent as well, showing a few minor paper/sleeve lines. Playback is solid throughout, while labels are crisp with no spindle wear. A super cool, one of a kind piece of Billy Joel memorabilia from the early days of his career!
