GENERATION X - PERFECT HITS "THE DEMO TAPES"

VERY RARE - Only 100 copies were pressed. MINT condition - never played.


In 1977 I was GENERATION X's manager. This record was my idea.

After we made the first "bootleg" single - the white label "Your Generation / Listen" - we decided to go one better and raise our standards. We released an "official" record.

PERFECT HITS "THE DEMO TAPES" is from another recording session (so different from the "bootleg"). We hit on the idea of getting interested record companies to put us in a studio for a session, so they paid for us to get demo tapes! Since we were now a 'record company' we decided to have a release number -  GX - 1. For the label we took a gig poster (designed by author Jon Savage) and adapted it to the label.

The tracks are YOUR GENERATION / READY STEADY GO / SAVE MY LIFE. They are very different from the Chrysalis versions - faster, rougher, pure.

The matrix numbers are: A-side - GX - 1 - A - RE - 1 / GX - 1 - B

We pressed 100 copies.

As part of the sale I will include a Letter of Provenance telling the story of how the record was made and guaranteeing its originality.

The record has NEVER BEEN PLAYED. It is in MINT condition. There are no marks and no scratches. The label is flawless, with no marks of any kind. There are no spindle marks.


THIS IS MY ONLY COPY SO ONCE IT'S GONE THERE ARE NO MORE.
