  GENESIS "Live" 1973 UK CHARISMA 1st PRESS - TOP COPY RARE 1st ISSUE, A-1U/B-1U, 1st B&C LABELS & SLEEVE
GENESIS
Live

HERE WE HAVE AN EXCELLENT, UK CHARISMA (CLASS 1) VERY FIRST PRESSING (July 1973) OF GENESIS' WONDERFULLY ATMOSPHERIC AND BEAUTIFULLY RECORDED LIVE ALBUM

THIS COPY IS THE ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING FROM JULY 1973 AND NOT THE LATER RE-ISSUE (which has a glossy, laminated PHONOGRAM sleeve, SMALL Hatter labels and PHONOGRAM credits - often cited as the first pressing but was issued after the success of Selling England By The Pound - which was released in October of that year)

THIS TRUE FIRST ISSUE COPY HAS THE MATRIX: CLASS 1 A-1U / CLASS 1 B-1U
LARGE MAD HATTER LABEL (with B&C credit)
AND IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL NON-LAMINATED SLEEVE "Printed and made by the E. J. Day Group, London and Bedford" WHICH ALSO CARRIES THE 'MARKETED BY B&C RECORDS' CREDIT (see pics)
IT IS ALSO PRESSED ON A BETTER QUALITY, HEAVIER WEIGHT VINYL THAN THE LATER ISSUES WHICH DELIVERS OUTSTANDING AUDIO REPRODUCTION (nice LOUD CUT WITH AN IMPRESSIVE DEEP, RICH SOUND)

Genesis Live was the first live album released by Genesis.
The band had no plans, at this time, to release a live album, but the decision was made on the part of their label, Charisma Records, to release Genesis Live as a budget-priced title to mark time while the band recorded 'Selling England by the Pound' in mid-1973.
The result became a boon for Genesis' most devoted fans, as this album represented the only legitimately released concert recording of the band (with Peter Gabriel on vocals) for 25 years.

The tracks on the album were recorded at De Montfort Hall, Leicester, on 25 February 1973 (except for "Return of the Giant Hogweed", recorded in Manchester on the previous day), when the band was touring in support of their Foxtrot album.
A handful of early radio promotional double sets pressed on an extremely limited basis by dutch Philips Records exist, which include the epic-length "Supper's Ready", the band's signature live song from this period.
Ultimately, the track was omitted and the album was released as a single-budget priced LP in July 1973. Despite this, the cover art still depicts a performance of "Supper's Ready".
The LP was later re issued, after the success of Selling England By The Pound, as a full-price LP in a glossy sleeve

Track Listing:
SIDE 1: Watcher Of The Skies / Get 'Em Out By Friday / The Return Of The Giant Hogweed
SIDE 2: Musical Box / The Knife

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing and only (very) light spindles
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its DEEP, AS-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN and is UNMARKED - BEAUTIFUL LOOKING RECORD
VINYL Audio: The audio is OUTSTANDING - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY STRONG and VIBRANT THROUGHOUT. FANTASTIC, ATMOSPHERIC RECORDING. There are NO scratches, NO sticks/jumps, just the occasional click/pop (most evident on the beginning of Side One but overall very, very minor indeed and certainly nothing I found intrusive). This copy plays BEAUTIFULLY throughout to a very high standard with GREAT CLARITY, NO groove-wear and NO distortion (its seen little play) and must be graded EXCELLENT/ EXCELLENT+ for audio. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page)
SLEEVE: The 1st issue non-laminated sleeve is in BEAUTIFUL condition - CLEAN and UNMARKED with just a little edge wear, but the surfaces are unrubbed with NO ring wear present (which is rare for this mostly dark sleeve) and the spine displays all text CLEAR and BOLD - Very fine example - EXCELLENT+
