Gerry Boulet
" Presque 40 Ans de Blues "
CBS PFC-80095, 1984 original issue 1st pressing (Canada)
Rare, long out-of-print and difficult-to-find debut solo release from Les Gants Blanc and Offenbach frontman Gerry Boulet (1946-1990).
With recording sessions beginning late in 1983, Boulet's first solo release hit the record store shelves in 1984. Although Offenbach and Gerry Boulet continued together for another year......recording & releasing one final studio album ("Rockerama") and a final live double LP set ("Le Dernier Show").......Boulet's promising solo career pretty much spelled the end for Offenbach as a band.
Released near the end of Offenbach's long career (but unfortunately to poor sales) "Presque 40 Ans de Blues" is nontheless an excellent album featuring 10 solid blues-rock numbers (one all-instrumental) and with a superb band that includes Offenbach band-mates Breen Leboeuf (bass), Johnny Gravel (guitar), and both Pat Martel & Bob Harrisson (drums). Also on board are Richard Paré (guitars), Alain Lamontagne (harmonica) and a young (still-unknown) Dan Bigras on keyboards.....and Plume Latraverse who wrote the lyrics for four of the songs on the album.
