From my own vast private collection gathered over last 45+ years ...these mostly from 1973 - 1978 I had my own Record Store here in Northern California in the 1970's and 80's -and bringing in wonderfully vibrant and amazing Progressive Rock Imports was a top specialty and priority - I was (still am) so nuts about this music that I had 3 different evolving weekly Radio Programs dedicated to it over 20 years - and loved nothing more than turning folks on to these bands and immersing myself and my audience in these exotic sounds. Now it is finally time for me to pass them on - my hardest LPs to part with, some 8 boxes of which I shall be listing throughout this Spring. Many of the leading progenitors of the 1st progressive era, but quite a few more obscure but no less amazing artists of the period. . *Sadly I am NOT FAST at listing and can am lucky to get around 50 up at a time, but they will keep on coming (as I pause between series, to focus on top level packing and immediate shipping) so keep checking back.
This leads me to the subject of "collecting" purchases for combined shipping with further purchases, which some ask for. I am happy to save LPs that are purchased within SAME Auction Series period (7 Days from 1st won auction) IF YOU ASK Me to. I MUST receive payment within 7 days of initial purchase. If you are in another country, wishing to have won/purchased LPs HELD ASIDE longer, for future (within 30 days maximum) combined purchase shipping, your note on your PayPal payment to HOLD items for combined shipping later will guarantee their being saved aside for your further bidding. When you state that you are done, your invoice will be revised to reflect complete, correct shipping discount at that time. If you DO NOT ASK me to hold, item will Ship within 24 hours. CHECK MY FEEDBACK, I am ALWAYS 100% RELIABLE on this. International bidders note that any package over 4 Lbs. (usually 5 to 6 LPs or more) MUST ship by PRIORITY MAIL INTERNATIONAL. US Post Office no longer ships above that weight at the lower, slower 1st Class International rate. . The vinyl here is in uniformly spectacular condition (Most being EX+ to NM) always extremely carefully handled. Some of the covers have minor issues - a small handful have significant issues, but the great majority are in VG+ to EX+ condition. Almost everything offered here is Original 1st Press - Full Details for each given in Description below. .

Stunning, lesser-known Canterbury Classic!

Too often considered the "lesser cousins" to Hatfield and THe North, GILGAMESH were easily their equal, plying a similar territory of sinuous, intelligent jazz-inflected Progressive rock, led by keyboard phenomenon Alan Gowen and guitarist par-exellance, Phil Lee. Gowen would later become an integral part of National Health (even as his own heath declined) and Soft Heap alongside Hugh Hopper and Pip Pyle; indeed this amazing debut LP is produced by Dave Stewart and features the sublime background vocal oozings of Northette, Amanda Parsons, filled out by fellow Canterburians, bassist Jeff Clyne (Isotope, Centipede, Nucleus, etc.) and drummer Mike Travis, who recorded with Hugh Hopper, Henry Lowther Band, Atlantic Bridge and others.
This LP is hands-down my #1 favorite Canterbury LP standing above even my beloved Caravans... Gowen's concept of 'improvisational composition', sublime tonalities, and delicious sense of melodic ideas meshed perfectly with Phil Lee's sinuous, seductive, gentle fuzz-toned guitar lines to create sheer oceans of aural bliss. Every bit the equal of the better-known Phil Miller, Phil Lee kept a lower profile, though did play in later-period National Health.
The results here are nothing less than transcendent.
While not near as many people are familiar with Gilgamesh, as with Hatfield & The North, Caravan, National Health and Soft Machine, those who listened to my radio programs in California, throughout the 1970's-'90s will be quite familiar with them, as they were featured quite often.
