Heavy Psych Masterclass album!!!

Groep 1850 was a Dutch psychedelic rock band that was founded in 1964 in The Hague. They first used the name Klits, but were renamed Groep 1850 in 1966 when their debut single, "Misty Night" / "Look Around", appeared on the tiny Yep label. Though few copies were pressed, it established them as one of The Netherlands most original bands (alongside the Outsiders and Q65) and they soon signed to Philips. 

They were the Dutch equivalent of Pink Floyd in the Netherlands and probably would have been far more well known had they originated from Britain or the US. More singles ensued, in a highly psychedelic vein, including the "Mother No Head". Their debut album, Agemo's Trip To Mother Earth, appeared in late 1968. In The Netherlands its sleeve had a 3-D image on the cover, and came with a pair of 3-D glasses. A UK release (also on Philips) did not help the band gain a footing outside The Netherlands, and Philips dropped them soon afterwards. 

Their next album, Paradise Now, appeared on and the Dutch Discofoon label in 1969 and was another beautiful heavy psych classic with incredible original compositions which really start growing on you after a few spins. This is essential listening and stayed obscure as it was only issued in Holland through the V&D department store (fancy that ... a heavy psych alternative album sold in the equivalent of an M&S or John Lewis's department store ... this was never going to sell at all.)  As a result only a few hundred ever got sold on the Discofoon label. Nowadays nearly impossible to find even in the Netherlands. This album oozes quality like May Blitz or Culpeper's Orchard but a lot weirder indeed!!

The band disbanded soon afterwards, but was sporadically active through the 1970s. Especially notable was another single, 1971's "Fire" / "Have You Ever Heard?", which appeared on Polydor. Another album was made in 1974 "Polyandri" which I am still looking for as an original.

I AM OFFERING ANOTHER HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER PROG / PSYCH ROCK VINYL LP RARITY FROM MY COLLECTION OF SIMILIAR ITEMS !! THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST PSYCH ALBUM EVER MADE IN HOLLAND, IT WILL DEFINITELY BE IN THE TOP TEN BEST PSYCH ALBUMS EVER CONCEIVED!!!!!!THIS WAS ONLY EVER ISSUED IN HOLLAND.

In subsequent years related albums have appeared by S.I.X.(Sjardin's Invisible X-factor), Sjardin's Terrible Surprise and Orange Upstairs. 

Vinyl: VG+.  Although there are  a few hairlines this album sounds fantastic due to the extremely heavy vinyl used. This is a quality pressing of this now insanely rare album issued by the Dutch Vroom & Dreesmann department store. The Discofoon label only issued a couple of albums and basically flopped as a label. The music is up there with the most far out sounds on the planet. A must for any psych/prog crossover collector. Of course no skips, jumps or clicks. Only some light static mainly between the tracks but certainly not intrusive.

Sleeve: VG+. A beautiful picture sleeve with psychedelic back cover. Front laminated with flipbacks. The back is unlaminated. A couple of light creases near the bottom. A small area of the spine has lightly worn through, nothing dramatic though. Top and bottom edges are 100%. The opening is fully intact. 

  THIS IS SO RARE!!! NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE!! HERE IS YOUR CHANCE NOW!!!  TRY TO FIND ANOTHER  COPY LIKE THIS ONE!!!  WOW, IMPOSSIBLE LIKE THIS!!!  EARLIEST 1ST PRESS RECORD , NOT A RE-ISSUE!!! WOW, INCREDIBLE!!!!

This is Prog/Psych GOLD!!!

The absolute rarity of this album is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays. This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Hauntingly beautiful songcraft!!! Immense quality prog album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twentyfive years experience in grading. It doesn't get much better than this!!
