Very rare Holyground LP that was never released in 1973, but unearthed in the 1980s when the label head was tracked down. Has a typical guitar prog feel with the druggy atmosphere expected of LPs on the label... in fact, it sounds quite a lot like Lightyears Away from the "Astral Navigations" comp on Holyground. The ten minute title track at the end of side two is a total monster. Only 160 copies were pressed, according to the Holyground discography!
Gygafo biography
This is one of those "miraculous" release album that have popped up in the late 80's and early 90's about a 70's lost album or "gem". This group got its name from a famous line from a record label executive not being impressed at these guys's live demonstration and told them: "Get Your Gear And F##k Off". . So these songs never got a release until 89, and come from 73 and the last two tracks from early 74 (all in mono), and they got released on the anecdotical label Background whose catalogue is full of extremely obscure (but rarely interesting) releases. Not much is known about the band's members past and future musical careers outside of this release.
The album is the original thick quality vinyl pressed in 1973.the LP was then later released in a posthumously designed semi gatefold sleeve.All sleeves are signed on the inside gatefold by Mike Levon & Dave Wood.
Musically Gygafo is a excellent dreamy acid folk rock laced with heavy progressive flourishes with electric guitar, keyboards etc.a really charming album,If you love the likes of SPRING(RCA) or FANTASY(POLYDOR) and other similar bands then this album will not disappoint you.
