For auction is an extremely rare and complete 1st U.K. stereo issue of Genesis’ first album - FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION - with the unboxed Decca labels.
This is so rare, particularly in this condition, as only about 650 copies were sold. The producer Jonathan King asserted this, stating that most copies had been placed in the Religious Music racks of record shops due to the very poor advance publicity.
The original first issue sleeve, with the stereo/mono peephole at the rear, is the best condition copy I have ever seen. The notoriously fragile front lamination is almost perfect - so many copies have major laminate lifting and creasing. The unlaminated rear has only the slightest of ring wear or edge wear.
The original lyric inner - with the all important Stereo AND Mono catalogue numbers - is in near mint condition.
The original colour coded inner sleeve is in VG condition.
Visually and sonically the record is at least VG+. Under very bright light you can see a few minor scuffs and hairlines but nothing deep or feelable. Generally a good bright shine. The unboxed labels are in excellent condition. The stampers are 1C/1U.
Sonically plays very well with only occasional light crackles. I would have graded excellent if there was not some surface noise in the last few seconds of side 1.
All in all a great condition complete and authentic copy of an incredibly rare record. Any Genesis fan would love to have this for their collection.
