(2-LP set) Few albums rival this epic production first released in 1974. In an era of over indulgent double LP efforts and "rock operas," "Lamb" was inspired by a trip to N.Y.C by the band, resulting in the writing and production of what is considered not only the high point of the "Gabriel era" of Genesis, but also is one of the greatest rock albums, ever. Featuring extended passages showcasing the multi-instrumental talents of the band plus the prolific and expressive if sometimes weird and disturbing lyrics by Gabriel, it tells the saga of a N.Y.C. graffiti artist named Rael and his ultimate transformation. The album would be Gabriel's swan song as a member and help launch a still on-going solo career.
