George Harrison / X-Streams RARE ODDITY: BEATLES / POST PUNK WARNER ACETATE LP
Label: Warner Bros / Dark Horse Year: 1981
Condition: Vinyl - VG+ Cover - VG+ (generic)
Description:
VERY Unique and odd item here. SO, The A-side, which is labeled, is two unreleased X-Streams songs, “Pressure” and “Boy”, seemingly a simple reference acetate from 1981. BUT, when I found this, I noticed that there were 5 tracks on the flip that weren’t accounted for, however it was sold as a ’two track acetate”. So when I got it home, I popped it on the turntable to discover that the flip were in fact five tracks from George Harrison’s “Somehwere In London” LP: All Those Years Ago, Life Itself, Unconciousness Rules, Blood From A Clone and Baltimore Oriole. My guess is that the engineers in the cutting room were running row on acetate discs and needed to cut something for the X-streams, or vice versa, for George, and they used what was available to them, hence this bizarre Beatle artifact. And to even FURTHER confuse things - it comes in a generic white jacket with the catalog number for Madness’s “Absolutely” LP, released on Sire, a division of Warner (as was George’s Dark Horse label) so 🤷🏻. Regardless - A VERY COOL ITEM INDEED! Disc is VG+, plays and sounds perfect on both sides, and
BIDDERS - PLEASE READ THE BELOW
I grade my LPs VERY conservatively and accurately under a bright light. A description of the grading scale is below:
M: MINT - perfect. vinyl is pristine / cover is flawless and/or sealed
M- : just under mint. a very, very slight amount of wear on the cover or inaudible wear on the vinyl (surface wear from age, generally) but is otherwise flawless
VG+: vinyl / cover shows signs minor signs age or wear that are more or less undistinct / inaudible.
VG: vinyl / cover shows some visible wear / age but is overall in very good shape. pops and clicks may be ever so slightly noticeable, but don't effect play or overall listening experience.
VG-: vinyl / cover shows some relatively apparent age but is in overall good shape and still a fine copy to own / play.
G+: vinyl shows some heavy wear but overall sounds decent. cover has some flaws or shows much age
G: vinyl is in pretty rough shape visibly but plays ok. cover shows a lot of age or has some major splits or tears.
G-: vinyl looks / sounds pretty rough. cover has major condition issues such as water damage, large rips, etc
*a double "+" or "-" indicates that the condition is just above or below the neighboring grade
