Hello. For your consideration is this brand new factory sealed Grateful Dead Hampton '79 2-LP vinyl set plus the authentic and unused backstage pass from this very concert. This is a limited edition RSD release from 2014. There were 7900 copies released. You can see all four corners which are in excellent condition. This 2 record set contains what is in the vault from this concert. It is from the Grateful Dead’s live concert performance at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton Virginia. The backstage pass says Hampton Roads Coliseum in Hampton Roads VA. This is the metropolitan area plus the body of water that divides the cities there. If the Hampton Coliseum was perhaps called this originally, I cannot find any info. All GD info says it is the Hampton Coliseum, but it is very normal for buildings like this to change their names over time. Though, I have noticed a handful of mistakes on other GD backstage passes too. For example I have one that has the abbreviation for Michigan (MI) instead of Wisconsin (WI). Regardless, this is the actual and authentic backstage pass from this very concert. It is in excellent condition and the backing has never been pealed. How awesome to have been at this concert and to have had this backstage pass! It was also the Dead’s first time playing the Hampton Coliseum, and Brent’s third show with the band. Many great GD concerts have happened there. This is a fantastic set and a great look into the beginning contributions of the then new keyboardist Brent Mydland. This is a must have set, especially concerning this was only released on this vinyl format and is limited to 7900 copies. I have included the track lists below and some release information below that. Must have early Brent era live Dead from May 1979!

Release info:

It appears the Dead will issue the 2-LP set Live At The Coliseum, featuring most of the band’s first-ever show at Hampton Coliseum from May 4, 1979, on Record Store Day 2014. The producers are listed as the Grateful Dead and the band’s legacy manager David Lemieux. Lacquers were cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman mastering, the release was pressed at RTI on 2 180-gram LPs and housed in an old-school style gatefold jacket. Live At The Coliseum will mark the first release of music from this show in any format and all that is contained on tapes in the Grateful Dead vault.

The release includes the bottom end of the first set and the entire second set. There was no encore that night. We’re especially excited to hear the “Estimated” > “Eyes” sequence that takes up an entire side of vinyl.

The Grateful Dead’s May 4, 1979 show at the Hampton venue is a two-LP set titled "Live at the Coliseum."

The release, produced by Grateful Dead and longtime archivist David Lemieux, will feature the second half of the show's first set, as well as the full second set.
