PLEASE CONSIDER THAT IN THESE EBAY AUCTIONS I USE A STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE GRADING SYSTEM THAT CAN'T DISAPPOINT ANYONE BUT THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT ,FOR EXAMPLE, A VG+ COVER OR A VG+ VINYL IT'S EQUIVALENT TO "BAD CONDITIONS" BUT SIMPLY THAT MY GRADE IT'S STRICT AND PROBABLY EQUIVALENT TO AN EX OF SOMEONE ELSE WITH NOT A SO STRICT GRADE. I HAVE SOLD IN THESE AUCTIONS EX- RECORDS THAT WERE SURELLY M- COPIES BUT I PREFERE TO BE STRICT TO AVOID ANY DISAPPOINTEMENT BECAUSE I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY REPUTATION.
Record Collector Magazine Grading System MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
graded VG+/VG+ for a strict Record Collector magazine grading system
label: The Columbia Black/Blue Label 33SX1781, with KT as tax code and XAX 2912 - 1 and XAX 2913-1 on side 1 and 2, does have some more spindle marks around hole and this denotes some more playing than normal so VG+ because this is the only flaw.
cover: The cover it's a flipback front laminated one and it's still in nice conditions especially on the front side where the lamination does not have serious defects just a minimal storage wear and one crease in the right upper side, corners are in good order with minimal wearand not bent. Back does have some more yellowing especially on the right side. I grade this cover VG+ but as you can see it's absolutelly enjoyable especially for a record dated 1965.
vinyl: I grade this vinyl VG+ because I can see some marks but sincerelly all of these marks seems to me light and definitelly not feelables so I don't think the playing will be affected negativelly in a good hi-fi equipement. Before the start of music I can hear a slight static noise...the music of "After The Third World World War" start and I'm immediatelly impressed by the high level of this mono press, the volume seems to be the double of the normal and no the minimal noise...between the tracks a light static noise...start the second track "The Bells Of Rhymney" and no problems yet...what powerful voice!...between the tracks still some static noise..."Strange Fruit" start and being a more mellow track with elephant ears I can listen the static noise of the vinyl in the beginning but then no more absolutelly and can be considered 1,5 on a scale of 10 and just for some moments...."Blues For Cupid Green" it's as the others..."All I Want Is A Chance" it's in the same vein of the others, here maybe if you listen carefully you can hear a minimal static crackle ...always about 1,5 on 10 and in some moments only...."The War Drags On" plays great too with just a light static crackle in the last few seconds when the music is lasting. The first side plays at least a strict 7.50 on a scale of 10 and the sound it's fantasticly powerful. The second side start in the same way with a light static background crackle before the music start and then nothing more... "Keep Movin' On", "Jeannie" does have a lightly more, "What Makes The Wind to Blow", "I've Gotta Deal You Can't Turn Down", "West Country Girl", "Plain Of The Buffalo" are all very well playables and at high volume without any problem not described so also this side 7.50 on 10 absolutelly. No repetitive clicks if not maybe 4/5 very very low and impossible or hardlyto hear in a normal listening in "Plain Of The Buffalo"...no heavy or disturbing noises just the minimal static noise between the tracks and rarelly in some moments during the plays but sincerelly if you hear the music carefully you don't hear nothing....my ears have to be more critical than a normal relaxed listening...don't worry it's OK!
review: A similar songwriting work in the 1965 can be compared with the Jackson C. Frank lp that I had a couple of times in my hands but never in perfect conditions .This album it's less melodic and touching that the other but absolutelly superbly done...musically it's more in Bob Dylan first period than in Nick Drake vein so we are speaking of a great debut...his voice it's deep and powerful and his guitar style it's great, songs are all very blues inspired but not blues songs and are not inspired to the traditional folk, it's typical songwriter that describe his state of mind, his political ideas and his feelings in the way he like without too much contamination if not the blues roots and a Dylanesque musical structure but with an absolute personal and different approach...as the Jackson C. Frank it's really hard to find and sincerelly a nice copy it's quite impossible. This is an absolutelly rare lp...don't miss!
