Description

This is the original UK issue on the Psycho label of three unreleased live performances from 1971 & 1976, with the free 7" EP, the stickered glossy gatefold sleeve and the A-1, B-1, C-1, D-1 matrices of the very 1st press in great condition.

The Groundhogs had been formed in 1962 playing on the blues scene and finally releasing their first album in 1968. In March 1971 their third album 'Split' was released and the band went on a UK tour with the Rolling Stones, who recorded part of their gig at Leeds. This was used as a radio promo in the USA, apparently only 200 were pressed and the tapes lost. Later on the tour their London concert was recorded and again the tapes shelved. The Groundhogs went to tour the USA the following year and released 'Who Will Save The World?. They broke up in 1975, but reformed in 1976 releasing two more albums 'Crosscut Saw & Black Diamond', but during touring & recording a live album in Sweden the band finally split up.
The UK Printed glossy gatefold sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear and some very light storage rubbing on the front cover, with the original 'Free EP' sticker on the cover. The spine is intact & fully readable, the plain company inners are intact & in EX+ condition.   The records are in visually EX+ condition, with only a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines on sides 1&2 and a few more hairlines and a couple more needle marks/scuffs on sides 3/4 that do not affect play. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with evidence of only one or two faint spindle markings on each side.   The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no hiss, crackle or pops and definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some very brief, low background noise during the run in grooves.
Overall, a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; Psycho-24, A-1 stamper 1, B-1 stamper 1, C-1 stamper 1, D-1 stamper 1. This is one of the very first pressings of the original 1984 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
