Description

HAR YOU PERCUSSION GROUP "sounds of the ghetto youth" original release Latin Funk and Soul LP on ESP-Disk 1067. "....Their super-rare legendary Latin funk release originally came out on ESP in 1969/1970. Although the title says Percussion Group, this is actually a Latin soul group led by master conga player Montego Joe as part of the Harlem Youth program of the 60's......""..... A fantastic raw mix of funky bass, heavy drums, burning horn lines and soulful vocals, this is quite simply one of the great Latin releases of all-time. Includes the monster tracks "Welcome to the Party," "Feed Me Good," and "Oua-Train....."

Tracks: 1. Feed Me Good 2. Barrets Bag 3. Ngoma 4. Oua-Train5. Welcome To The Party 6. Santa Cruz 7. Tico

Cover: the front graphics and rear liner notes are clean and sharp, there is a moisture stain lower left corner, there are corner wrinkles and a corner cut, some lite discoloration along opening with owners name neatly written VG

Vinyl: the heavy vinyl shows great gloss with some ESP-Disk pressing imperfections and along with a few scuffs/scratches creating some intermittent noise on the introduction and during the first songs on both sides and during a brief flute solo passage on "Santa Cruz". VG

Despite these imperfections, this remains a very presentable copy of a seriously rare record.

Original release used in the description referred to this being an ESP release, not the re-issue on Ubiquity Records. The address shown on the label is 290 West End Ave, NY NY 10023, the business address of ESP in 1973/74, to the best of my knowledge.
