ESP-DISK STEREO - 1067; rare original U.S. issue with black and white cover.  Complete with original brown paper inner-sleeve.

This legendary Latin funk release originally came out on ESP in 1969/1970. Although the title says Percussion Group this is actually a Latin soul group led by master conga player Montego Joe as part of the Harlem Youth program of the 1960's. A fantastic mix of Latin jazz, Latin soul, Afro/spiritual jazz, and African percussion.

CONDITION

Record: 

Side 1 -- VG+  It begins with a quiet piano introduction and there is a light pop/bump that continues during this quiet introduction for about 30 revolutions and is caused by a tiny pressing dimple.  The pop disappears completely once the rest of the band comes in.  The remainder of the side is solid M-/VG+ condition.  There is surface rush typical of ESP pressings between tracks.  The music plays clean and free of any sort of wear noise.  The surface appears with nice lustre and gloss and with a single faint scuff that causes no playback problems.

Side 2 -- M-/VG+  It begins with nice quiet wind-in grooves; the side continues with vinyl rush typical of ESP pressings which is heard only between tracks or during silent moments in the music.  The music plays clean and free of any sort of wear noise.  The surface appears clean with nice lustre and gloss across the entire side.

This is likely as clean as any copy you will ever see of this LP.  The condition of this genuinly rare LP is right for the most descriminating collector.

Jacket: VG+: The text is on the spine is perfectly centered; there is slight bumping at the two lower corners; very slight wear at the two top corners; very faint traces of ring wear at very top and bottom of jacket front and back; hole punch at upper right corner; otherwise clean and clear with bright graphics. (No deletion cuts, or notches; no shop wear, edge wear, split seams or other wear).

Packaging

All LPs are shipped in new poly outer sleeves and new paper sleeves when called for. All open LP reocrds will have the discs removed from their jackets before shipping. All LPs are carefully and sturdily enclosed in bubble wrap and enclosed in a new corrugated cardboard LP mailer, which is reinforced with heavy duty packing tape or duct tape. The weight of a single LP packed properly is about 1 lb 3 oz. My packing is sound and secure, but I always recommend purchasing insurance to cover your purchase.
